This paper will address the Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), its criterion in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorder (5thEd), (DSM-5), published by American Psychiatric Association (APA, 2013,) and the application of the ODD diagnosis on a future case study.

In addition, the paper will discuss psychopathology theoretical models, which include biological, psychological, and social/interpersonal approaches to describe ODD.

Psychopathology effects and effects of ODD on the client and the family unit functioning will beexplained, and assessment related to impact of social context factors, which have played a role inshaping the development of ODD diagnosis, will be conducted.
