Hi,
As per your request, I have done a layout on how to address the epidemiological study and found links to background information that will help you get the material needed.

Unless you have a special interest if you have to do an epidemiological study for school, the logical way to select a population that is vulnerable and the disease, is to find the one that there is enough background data to do the analysis. You have to consider that epidemiology is “the study of how disease is distributed in populations and of the factors that influence or determine this distribution”(Gordis, 2000, p.3); therefore enough information on environmental data should be also available.
A longer definition states that epidemiology is “the study of the distribution and determinants of health-related states or events in specified populations and the application of this study to control of health problems”(Gordis, 2000, p.3). This definition gives also a purpose or objective to collecting data.

The vulnerable population selected: teens

Disease for one this population: HIV

The epidemiology analysis and intervention/prevention planning are facilitated by the use of the epidemiology triangle. The triangle describes the relationship of the disease to various levels of prevention. Each corner of the triangle serves a purpose: 1) agent or what causes the disease, what alters the health, 2)host or who is harboring or causing the disease, 3) environment or those external factors that cause or allow the disease transmission (the where).
Once those are defined, prevention/intervention management can be plan in any of the sides cutting the epidemiological connections in the triangle.

For this study, it will be helpful to include a triangle that illustrate the following: the host a teens (ages 13 to 19); the agent which is the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV); and the environment that could be defined as socio-economical factors, sexual behaviors including use of condoms, or illegal use activities.

To start your analysis you need to explain the incidence of the disease and how it has behaved in the last years.
