According to a new Thomson Reuters report, approximately one-third of the nation’s total healthcare spending is unnecessary. With 46 million people in the United States that are uninsured, that type of spending would offer them care that would secure their medical future. With the standards medical system, which is fee for service, there is not incentive to provide good care and promote healthier patients. Most wonder how we have migrated from the doctor who cared for the patient and receive remuneration for good service to an assembly line type of care that does nothing but promote more spending to cover possible lawsuits.
Ten ways to Cut Health-Cate Cost Right Now
- Change Fraudulent Claims – It is almost hard to believe the number of people who participate in some kind of fraudulent scheme related to insurance claims or reimbursement. Up to now, the insurance companies let the government handle to issues and now have hired their own investigators to seek out the industry fraud. In California, Anthem Blue Cross found that 10% of newly registered companies were fakes. News coverage of the events also helped to curb the rising schemes.
