Wow… Have you ever considered that good enough is the enemy of great? I’m just sayin’ the project I’m working on is passable and workable… Honestly, I’m not criticizing or trying to berate! “Good enough” is a comfort phrase we commonly use as a self- esteem crutch. In any activity we’re involved in when we pass fair to “midlin” and get to the good point regarding our satisfaction we unconsciously have a tendency to keep ourselves in the safety zone of good and not move forward a touch. Like make-up masking a blemish we cover-up a fear of failing with convincing ourselves good enough is truly our end game. Fear of failure (also called “atychiphobia”) is when we allow fear to prevent us from doing the things that can actively move us toward achieving each and every aim. Fear of failure causes us to stop at good and keeps us from recognizing and then enjoying the fruits of great the way we should. We despise failing. Our motivation to avoid failure exceeds our desire to succeed. Fear of failure causes us to unconsciously sabotage our chances of success by slamming our brakes on moving out of our Copyright Alan P.
