This makes it available at a lower cost for all to purchase; therefore, they have the same right to be insured as someone that has a steady income. However, it is not affordable for individuals that do not have steady income and penalizes individuals who do not purchase insurance; therefore, making it a privilege rather than a human right. And everyone should have the right to feel free of pain and peace of mind to focus on other day to day life stressors. Thereupon, healthcare is a human right. The Declaration of Independence should be amended to read the right to” Life, Liberty, Healthcare and the pursuit of Happiness.” Individuals are entitled to life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness as their birth right. Nonetheless, health care should be a right and not to be looked upon as if you can afford it you have the right to healthcare. Without being able to take care of one’s health it makes the pursuit of happiness hard to achieve if one is worried about how to pay for healthcare. Providing healthcare as a right allows individuals the equal opportunities to use the abilities they have and to live as contributing members of society. Without that right, they are faced with trying to survive day by day and hoping they do not get sick and causing financial hardship (Right-or-privilege). For one thing, Canada provides coverage for all Canadian citizens; therefore, allowing individual the human right to health care. There is absolute no reason to deny this human right in the United States, denying this human right cripples our society.
