Interesting topic! I found tons of information to get you started. I also attached one article discussing six questions about globalization from both sides of the debate (pro-globalization versus anti-globalization) and another discussing one dark side of globalization in some detail.

Let’s take a closer look.

There are both proponents who argue that globalization is a good thing and the opponents who argue the dark side of globalization. Perhaps it is best to consider both the positive and negative aspects.

To fully understand globalization one must look at its definition first.

“Globalization simply means freedom of movement for goods and people, and it is hard to be violently hostile to that. But behind this fight lies an older and more fundamental struggle-against economic liberalization, and against the chief representative thereof, which is the United States.” (Revel) (2)

In fact, opinions are sharply divided across Europe on whether globalization brings more benefits or costs to society. Greece, France and Hungary are the three most skeptical countries of the EU-27. More of the population in each of these member states thinks its effect is more negative than positive. The most optimistic about the prospect of an increasingly globalised world, in contrast, live in Estonia and Lithuania, followed by Poland and Sweden, according to a Euro-barometer survey. There is more consensus about what the benefits and costs might be. Most Europeans think globalization is good news for scientific and technical progress (61%), but only just over half that number (34%) believe it has the potential to reduce disparities between countries, and even fewer (27%) think it will help their local job market (1) (http://www.europesworld.org/EWSettings/Article/tabid/78/Default.aspx?Id=71786e5e-c751-42d9-a80d-c83ccda87c1a&language=en-US).

· Countries dominating and exploiting (e.g., sweatshops, child labor, etc.) the developing counties of their resources e.g., globalization only helps the dominant country, while exploiting the minority or developing country

· Loss of sovereignty of the host country of their own resources (see a discussion of how to combat these negative effects at …
