The Situation
Having been handed the responsibility of heading up an advanced degree program in the College of Psychology, one of the key concerns I have to focus on is the practice of ethics across the board. Ethics in the academe, especially in a science that involves working on and working with human subjects is essential. The American Psychological Association’s (APA) Ethical Principles of Psychologists present a code of conduct intended to guide practitioners in the ‘highest ideals of psychology’ (APA, 2010). The 2010 code are seen as enforceable rules at least within the APA, especially among their members and sphere of influence.
