Assume you are employees of a consultancy company that has been hired by the Western Primary Health Network (WPHN) located in a large metropolitan city. It provides a range of services across six sites in four neighbouring suburbs, including general practitioner after hours, mental health, substance use rehabilitation programs, immunisation, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, chronic disease prevention and sexual health. It employs 100 frontline health workers, including exercise physiologists, nutritionists, mental health nurses, registered nurses, clinical psychologists, counsellors, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and general practitioners.

One of the key performance indicators that the WPHN Board will be evaluated on is the creation a positive organisational culture which will:

achieve ‘magnet style recognition’ for staff across all six sites – including optimising the employment and development opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people;

promote fiscal responsibility across all 100 frontline health workers;

create transparent corporate governance in all six sites;

and empower consumers of all six sites to become engaged in decision making.Your team has been asked to provide a 30-minute face-to-face briefing to the WPHN Board which outlines how this culture can be achieved within three years so that all five intended outcomes are met.

Select a name for your consultancy company.

Assign a project manager who will have responsibility for coordinating and progressing all activities.

Distribute an intended outcome to each of the remaining four students.

Create a videocast of your briefing to the WPHN Board, utlising the following format:

The project manager introduces the consultancy company and each team member, then provides a brief overview of the presentation, and highlights the significance of creating a positive organisational culture and its relationship to achieving the intended outcomes (four minutes).

Each consultant presents information on their intended outcome (six minutes each – 24 minutes in total)

The project manager concludes the presentation by providing a summary of the major points and thanks the WPHN Board for their time (two minutes).

Each of the four consultants should include:

an explanation of the outcome and why it is important;

the relationship of organisational culture to the outcome;

the strategies recommended to achieve the outcome, with justification through current literature;

identification of relevant policies that would need to be developed to assist in achieving the outcome;

a communication plan for how you will promote the concept to both community and staff;

and consideration of any major expenditure required to achieve the outcome

Submit a bibliography, listing the resources used to create the briefing, and include a link to your briefing video.
