Background
In Assignment 1 you developed a PICO question, reviewed a number of scholarly articles on the topic you chose, and created a summary table.In this assignment, you will do an in-depth critique of the quantitative or qualitative
methods nursing research report article you chose and had approved in Assignment 1 and 2: Part A. Do not switch articles without approval, as it is easy to get off track if you select a mixed methods or literature review/scoping article for the critique. To help prepare you for the assignment you may like to refer to the following
readings/activities:

  1. Course Textbook – Holland and Rees Chapter 7
  2. Refer to the Learning Activity for Assignment 2 to see key elements of writing a critique of an article (Study desk under the assessment heading)
  3. Course Readings Direct – under useful links on study desk. Example of a qualitative and quantitative critique (Schneider, 2007);

To conduct a critique of a research article, use the three steps of the critique discussed in the Assignment 2 Powerpoint and Learning Activity guide for each of the following sections of the research report article.

  1. Literature review/theoretical framework
  2. Research topic, phenomenon of interest, research question or hypothesis
  3. Research method
  4. Data collection methods
  5. Data analysis
  6. Findings

Requirements are clearly laid out in the qualitative and quantitative rubrics for the assignment. It is always a good strategy to use the outline of the rubric as an outline for your assignment and to keep comparing your assignment to the rubric as you are writing each section.
Don’t forget to submit an electronic copy pdf file of the article with your assignment as an Appendix.

    b) the assignment starts on the page 2, with an introduction, followed by the body of the assignment, and ends with a conclusion
