Current medications her medications include Captopril, Clopidogrel, and Metformin. Kath also uses a Salbutamol puffer as required. She has been using her puffer more often over the past couple of months.

History of Present Illness – Kath has recently been suffering from an upper respiratory tract infection with a fever and productive cough. This has made her feel extremely lethargic and unable to leave the house as she becomes short of breath easily upon any exertion. She has had difficulty sleeping over the past couple of nights as she finds lying
down uncomfortable so has been sleeping in an armchair in the lounge room.
She awoke this morning extremely short of breath and despite using her puffer repeatedly she is feeling worse. Kath presents at her local emergency department and you are allocated her as your patient. Presenting symptoms – On admission her observations were: respiratory rate 18; Oxygen saturation by pulse oximetry (SpO2) 92%; blood pressure 146/80; heart rate 96
