Logical fallacies occur in the mere form of statements discovered without knowledge of the subject matter of the argument (Jevon, 1912). In other words, a logical fallacy is an error in reasoning in making judgments and/or decisions. The following Op Ed is based on the early support and popularity that the disciple of psychology received in the Times editorials (Dennis, 2005.) The opinions in the article are based on the fact that psychology once had widespread popularity in newspapers, and magazines. Based on the article, prior to World War I, most psychologists distanced themselves from a public image that mistakenly identified psychology with concepts such as spiritualism, mind reading and medical health leaders. An image of psychology was depicted in which psychology was praised as offering common sense to aid with society’s problems. As Dennis (2002) notes, before the World War I (1920), psychologists effort was to promote the discipline of psychology as a science rather than as a modern invention that could provide services for society’s problems.
However, following World War I, according to Dennis, psychologists’ popularity with regards to practical applications and social relevance was less prominent.
