Reading Blogs:The book The True American has been divided into five sections; the first and final sections we will discuss in class as assigned reading, and the three middle sections students are expected to read independently (although some reading notes will be provided by the instructor to help contextualize what they read in those sections). For each of these reading assignments, students will be expected to complete an online reading blog (which will be visible to their classmates). In this blog, students are expected to do 3 things: 1. Summarize that section in the reading (250-350 words) 2. Apply sociological concepts from the course to that section of reading (in text citations required) as they 3. Offer their sociological analysis of the reading (150-250 words). These blogs will be graded on a 15-point scale and their lowest score will be dropped at the end of the semester. Blogs are due at 2:00 pm the day of class for the sections to be discussed in class and for those sections that students read independently, blogs are due at 11:59 on the stated due date. Late reading blogs will not be accepted. Maximum Number of Cumulative Points: 60
