Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967
The Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) of 1967 prohibits the discrimination against individuals based on their age. The ADEA protects any individual being discriminated against because of their age; however, the majority of the Act focuses on the elderly or persons over the age of 40. The Act was in response to the rising of older workers and organizations setting arbitrary age limits regardless of the individual’s abilities. According to the Act (2008), it is unlawful to limit, segregate or classify employees in any what which would deny employment.
