Watch the Writing Center’s “Locating Common Themes in a Literature Review” (also in the Resources) to learn strategies for developing categories for your literature review while you read. Include the following information in your assignment: •Using the topic from Unit 2, create a literature review (research paper) including a research-based description of your topic and any empirical studies on which your project is based. •Include a discussion on how biological, social, and cultural factors impact your chosen issue. •Include a discussion on the leadership and advocacy skills human behavior professionals need to address your chosen topic. •Discuss resources available to assist in meeting the diverse needs of youth impacted by your chosen topic. •Be sure your literature review includes at least 10–15 references. Of those, 10 should be from professional peer-reviewed journals. •Organize the elements of your literature review into categories with clear and well-labeled headings. Which categories you use is up to you and should be informed by the themes and patterns discovered in the research. For suggestions on organization, look at examples from the Writing Center. •Write clearly and without jargon. If you use abbreviations and acronyms, define them first. Remember that written communication errors will detract from the overall message. Submission Guidelines •APA formatting: Resources and citations must be formatted according to APA style and formatting. •Length of paper: 12–15 typed double-spaced pages. •Font and font size: Times New Roman, 12 point. Refer to the Literature Review Scoring Guide to ensure that you meet the grading criteria for this assignment. When you have completed your literature review, submit the assignment to your instructor in the assignment area.
